Guide for vehicle owners
A guide to tracking your vehicles, requesting service, and keeping the record straight.
1. Add a vehicle
Enter make, model, and year to start — VIN and plate are optional but help a shop identify the car instantly, and let you search your own history faster later.
2. Log mileage and history yourself
Add an odometer reading whenever it's convenient, and log maintenance or repairs you did yourself or had done before joining Vehicord. These start out as owner-entered — attach a receipt or invoice and they become document-backed.
3. Request service from a shop
Pick a registered service organization, describe what you need, and send the request. This automatically gives that shop the access it needs to see your vehicle's relevant history and add new records — nothing more, and you can revoke it at any time from your vehicle's access settings.
4. Follow the job
The shop proposes a date, you confirm it, and the request moves through check-in, in-progress, and completion. If they need to do extra work beyond what was agreed, you'll be asked to approve it before they continue.
5. Confirm or dispute the finished record
Once the job is closed, the shop publishes a service record. You'll get a chance to confirm it matches what happened, or open a dispute if it doesn't. A confirmed record stays as-is; disputes are reviewed rather than silently edited.
6. Manage who can see what
Every shop you've worked with only sees what you've granted — mileage, service history, documents, or contact details, chosen individually. Review and revoke access any time from a vehicle's settings.
Keeping your account secure
We recommend turning on two-factor authentication (TOTP) from your security settings, and reviewing your active sessions periodically if you sign in from shared or public devices.
